Verification guide

What is account verification?

Account verification is the process of confirming the identity of a user on EXMO.com. The user has to go through the process of verification immediately after registration.

Why do we need to verify users?

EXMO.com is a cryptocurrency exchange that is registered in the UK and operates in the jurisdiction of the British legal system, as well as in the EU legal system. According to the Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5AMLD), all users who make transactions with cryptocurrencies must undergo mandatory identity verification.

What do I need to verify successfully?

Every verification stage requires a set of documents to successfully pass verification. All stages follow the same verification process:

  • Only documents with information in Latin or Cyrillic characters are accepted.
  • All scanned copies or photographs of documents must comply with the following instructions:
    • Only JPG and PNG formats are accepted.
    • Only colour copies are accepted.
    • Documents must not be edited using any editing software.
    • The size of a file should be between 100KB and 8MB. All document details should be clearly visible.

How much time will verification take?

It usually takes up to 30 minutes to process your documents before we confirm successful verification. However, please be aware that the verification process may take up to 24 hours in some instances, in order to comply with rules.

Identity verification

Identity verification is mandatory and needed to confirm your identity. This verification stage allows you to trade on EXMO.com, make crypto and fiat deposits. For U.S. citizens, passing address verification is required to get access to instant bank card deposits and withdrawals.

How to pass verification on EXMO

You can get verified by submitting any of the following documents:

  • Passport (the first two pages).
  • National ID card (both sides).
  • Driving license (both sides).
Note:
Identity verification is the first mandatory step in order to trade on EXMO.com. Other verification stages are optional and you can pass them in any order.

Address verification

Address verification is optional and needed to confirm your place of residence. It allows you to use more payment systems, for example, make bank transfers via Wire Transfer (SWIFT) and SEPA. (See all payment methods)

What documents does EXMO.com accept for address verification?

  • Bank Statement.
  • Utility bill.
  • Tax documents.
  • A document confirming your address issued by local authorities.
  • Court documents.
Note:
The document confirming your address must be not older than 3 months, and should clearly display your full name and home address.

Bank card verification

Bank card verification is a confirmation of ownership and possession of a payment card by a user. It permits users to deposit funds from bank cards (for withdrawals to a bank card, you only need to go through identity verification).

What documents does EXMO.com accept for bank card verification?

  • Only a copy of the embossed card issued in your name.
Note:
The cardholder’s name must be the same as the user’s name. The name of the cardholder and the first 6 and last 4 digits should be clearly visible on the uploaded and submitted photo.
